This is an absolutely fabulous and rare demi parure from Volupte!
Volupte was a well-known manufacturer of ladies' high-end compacts from the 1920's through the 1950's. Volupte produced jewelry only for a short time in the late 50's, so finding Volupte jewelry is extremely rare. Their jewelry was very well made and featured cutting edge jewelry designs. You can really feel the quality and see the attention to detail in their jewelry pieces. Once you experience Volupte jewelry I believe you will be hooked!
This Volupte set includes a necklace and matching clip earrings. The necklace is comprised of a marvelous fancy silver chain with a series of seven three-dimensional, silver bezel cabochons in the front. The cabochons are decorated with black enamel and gold leaf and fern designs that vary slightly in design. The cabochons float on a thick silver wire and are separated by silver balls. The necklace closes with a hook and eye clasp with a fancy silver fob at the end. The clip earrings also feature round cabochons, each with a variation of the leaf and fern design that matches the necklace. It's a gorgeous and unique set!
The necklace measures about 17 1/2 inches long, but with its hook and eye closure, the length can be shortened considerably simply by hooking it in the desired location along the chain. The cabochons in the necklace are approximately 3/4 inch in diameter. The necklace is unsigned but it is an exact match to the earrings which are signed. The earrings are about 3/4 inch in diameter. They are signed "Volupte" on the backs of the clips.
Volupte jewelry is hard to find and even harder to find in matching sets, so this is a rare and special find! The set is absolutely beautiful and it's in excellent vintage condition for its age. There is some very minor enamel and gold finish loss, but it's hardly noticeable. There are a few small areas of patina to the silver, but nothing that detracts in any way. The set shows very well and would make a fine addition to a vintage jewelry collection. It's a splendid vintage find!
