Every day, readers like you proudly share photos of their everyday carry on the site.

Not only is looking through their pockets this way super interesting, but it’s also a great way to find really cool gear you never even knew existed (yet somehow, suddenly need…).

When you hover over an item you like and click on it in these photos, you’re also letting other EDCers know you find that gear interesting. Each click gets recorded to create a data-driven ranking of the most popular gear, which you can find in our Gear section of the site found in the top menu bar.

Gear with the most views and clicks climbs its way to the top of this feed and lets the EDC community know what’s trending right this second.

This past September you were keen on heavy-duty knives, tough pouches, and overbuilt watches. Let’s take a look at all the gear you were most interested in…
The Most Popular EDC Gear from September 2019

10. Pokka Pens
Last month we kick off with a newcomer to the pen game that’s already making waves with its exceptional value at an affordable price. For Pokka Pens, the focus on pocket-friendliness is right there in the name. It’s all thanks to its clever design that’s super compact when closed, but extends to a comfortable length when it’s time to write. At under 3.5”, it certainly fits the part as a pocket essential. It features a body that fully nests into its cap, essentially halving the amount of pocket space it takes up. Usually, a pen that short might feel cramped during longer sessions, but the Pokka Pen avoids this by extending to a full-length pen. The cap firmly secures to the back of the pen with a satisfying snap, secured by a clever system of O-rings and ridges. Once extended, the pen reaches a comfortable 5.5” length—just as good for quick notes as it is for extended writing sessions with its included, replaceable ballpoint ink cartridge.

9. Leatherman Signal
9th on the list is a popular adventure-ready multi-tool from Leatherman. Designed with the outdoors in mind, the Leatherman Signal features both emergency functions along with the usual suite of Leatherman’s all-purpose tools. Its features include a ferro-rod for starting fires, a built-in hammer for stakes when pitching a tent, an emergency safety whistle, a diamond-coated sharpener for field maintenance, and a carabiner clip for easy attachment to your hiking pack. A 2.7”, 420HC combo blade confidently can handle your food prep, rope work, whittling, and more thanks to its beefy liner lock. In addition to a saw and usual set of openers and pliers, the Signal also features premium, replaceable 154CM steel wire cutters and a customizable bit driver to round out its functions.

8. Zero Tolerance 0450CF
For September’s 8th slot, a Zero Tolerance collaboration with knifemaker Dmitry Sinkevich comes back full force in carbon fiber. When a high-quality manufacturer pairs with a custom knife designer of this caliber, you know it’s something special. And here’s what you get: a lightweight and stealthy framelock flipper with a sleek, 3.25” blade in no less than S35VN top tier steel. It’s compact, ambidextrous with its reversible clip, and even features some touches you’d normally find in custom pieces, like stylish, hi-vis colored backspacers.

7. Topo Designs Accessory Bag
Specialized pouches are a great way to keep your essentials segregated and organized, and it also means switching your gear between bags is a breeze. Coming up 7th on last month’s most popular gear is a compact but robust accessory bag from colorful bagmaker Topo Designs. Available in three sizes, the handy pouch is made from durable Cordura ripstop nylon and pack cloth, with paracord hook loop and zipper pulls and nylon webbing pull tabs for fastening and retrieval. Each pouch is also handmade in Colorado, USA.

6. Maxpedition Fatty Pocket Organizer
Organization’s the name of the game when it comes to Maxpedition’s pocket organizers, and the “Fatty” is true to its name with plenty of it in a packable and grabbable package. Last month’s 6th most popular item comes from a long line of popular EDC organizers, and brings with it 5” x 7” x 2” worth of lay-flat, clamshell-opening organization. Within its 1000D nylon construction you get three pockets, a key leash with clip, and vertical and horizontal elastic loops to accommodate all your essentials. And when it’s time to move, MOLLE- and PALS-compatible webbing give you EDC options on top of its large grab handle at the top. Paracord zipper pulls and a hook and loop field put the finishing touches on this versatile pouch.

5. Redux COURG Zero Hour
Two of the most popular styles of watches for EDC share purpose-driven origins: the pilot watch and the dive watch. Each style has its own hallmark features with plenty of utility, whether it’s accurate timekeeping, high legibility, or excellent water resistance. The Redux COURG brings the best of both worlds to a single pilot-diver hybrid design, then takes it to the next level with premium materials like a tough yet lightweight titanium case and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The Zero Hour also features an automatic movement that’s ideal as an everyday watch in a 39mm case size that’s surprisingly wearable on a variety of wrist sizes. Rounding out its EDC-friendly features are a NATO strap with custom titanium hardware, optional date display, and luminous hands and markers for nighttime legibility.

4. Microtech UTX-85
With the “85” in its name signifying its size as 85% of a full Ultratech blade, Microtech’s popular out the front (OTF) model is uncommon for EDC due to its automatic nature, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that this is the knife most OTFs want to grow up to be. A 3.125“ CTS-204P blade pops in or out at the nudge of its signature firing button, with a number of options of blade shapes and handle materials available depending on your needs. A glass breaker tip on its handle and a clip complete the UTX-85’s hardware for the total emergency and tactical package in your pocket.

3. Amsler Knives Hurricane Razor
No, this isn’t a scalpel—but as a fixed EDC utility blade, it’s an excellent tool for tasks that need (surgical) precision. While it might not be for everyone, there’s so much to appreciate about the Hurricane Razor’s design as a piece of EDC gear. Its CPM 154 blade shape is optimized to excel at its main purpose as a utility knife, the fixed blade design removes needless complexity while adding strength, and its skeletonized frame fitted with titanium hardware reduces weight. Final touches like a Kydex sheath, o-rings for grip, and a bolted-on pocket clip make it adequately pocket friendly.

2. Gerber Remix Tactical
The first thing you’ll probably notice from September’s penultimate popular item is a large hole right in the middle of the knife. The Gerber Remix Tactical makes full use of this circular ring as a pivot, retrieval assist, and to secure your grip when using the knife. A 3“ 7Cr17MoV blade swings out via a one-handed thumb stud from its stainless steel and G10 handles, where a liner lock also resides for locking up the blade while in use. Speaking of the blade, its tanto shape and half-serrated edge provide piercing, slicing, and heavy cutting options where needed, offering versatility as both an everyday and tactical knife.

1. Seiko Prospex SRPC93
At the top spot for September was the Seiko Prospex SRPC93 “Save the Ocean” Samurai. As another one of Seiko’s excellent dive watches, this particular Samurai model sports a beautiful blue-black patterned dial and unidirectional rotating bezel, resembling deep waters and ocean waves. Inside its 44mm stainless steel case, a 23-jewel, 4R35 automatic movement keeps the watch ticking, complete with a date display, hacking seconds, and power reserve. Luminous hands and markers offer low-light legibility, which comes especially handy at depth when leveraging the watch’s 200m of water resistance. The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet to match its classic “submariner” style case. You can pick up this beautiful nautically themed dive watch for your EDC at the link below.
